5 ways to reduce no-shows without being pushy

No-shows are one of the most frustrating parts of running a salon. Here are five low-effort strategies that work.

Send automated reminders. A simple email or SMS the day before reduces no-shows by up to 40%. MySalon.me handles this automatically.

Make cancellation easy. When clients can cancel with one click from their confirmation email, they're less likely to just not show up. You get the slot back to rebook.

Require a card for high-demand slots. For popular time slots or expensive services, ask for a card to hold the spot. You rarely need to charge it — just having it on file changes behaviour.

Send a quick 'we're looking forward to seeing you' message on the morning of the appointment. It's a small touch that builds connection and reminds them.

Track patterns. If a particular client has no-showed before, you can flag their record and require confirmation 24 hours ahead.
