5 ways to reduce no-shows without being pushy
No-shows are one of the most frustrating parts of running a salon. Here are five low-effort practices to review without adding pressure to clients.
Send a clear reminder before the appointment. Email or SMS reminders help clients remember the time and give them a direct path to manage their booking.
Make cancellation easy. When clients can cancel with one click from their confirmation email, they're less likely to just not show up. You get the slot back to rebook.
For high-demand slots, consider a deposit or card-hold policy only where it is appropriate for your salon. Explain the policy before confirmation and apply it consistently.
Send a quick 'we're looking forward to seeing you' message on the morning of the appointment. It's a small touch that builds connection and reminds them.
Track patterns. If a particular client has no-showed before, you can flag their record and require confirmation 24 hours ahead.
